Yusuke Kono

Pianist / Composer

Yusuke Kono is a Japanese jazz pianist and composer based in Japan.

In 2011, he moved to New York City, where he studied at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music on a scholarship. After returning to Japan in 2014, he formed the Yusuke Kono Piano Trio.

In 2015, his trio won the Grand Prix at the Sapporo City Jazz Park Jazz Live Contest. The following year, he embarked on a European tour, performing at the Vienna Jazz Festival and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. In 2017, he released Be with us, recorded in New York with guest musicians Walter Smith III and Warren Wolf.

In 2023, Kono formed SOUNDTYPE with bassist Yuta Omino and drummer Jun Otsu. Drawing on jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and other musical influences, the trio explores a sound that moves freely across stylistic boundaries.

SOUNDTYPE released its debut album, Soundtype, on the Playwright label in 2024, followed by Soundtype 2 in 2025. The trio celebrated its second album with a performance at Tokyo’s COTTON CLUB in January 2026.

Kono continues to perform and create music, with SOUNDTYPE at the center of his current activities.

河野祐亮

ピアニスト / 作曲家

2011年にニューヨークへ渡り、The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Musicに奨学生として入学。現地でジャズを学び、演奏活動を重ねる。

2014年に帰国し、自身のリーダーバンド「河野祐亮ピアノトリオ」を結成。2015年にはSAPPORO CITY JAZZ PARK JAZZ LIVE CONTESTでグランプリを受賞。翌2016年にはヨーロッパツアーを行い、ウィーン・ジャズ・フェスティバルやロンドンの老舗ジャズクラブRonnie Scott’sに出演した。

2017年には、サックス奏者Walter Smith III、ヴィブラフォン奏者Warren Wolfをゲストに迎え、ニューヨークで録音したアルバム『Be with us』を発表。

2023年、ベーシスト小美濃悠太、ドラマー大津惇とともにピアノトリオ「SOUNDTYPE」を結成。異なる音楽的背景を持つ3人が、ジャズを軸にR&Bやネオソウルなどの要素を取り入れ、ジャンルの境界にとらわれない音楽を追求している。

2024年にPlaywrightよりファーストアルバム『Soundtype』をリリース。2025年にはセカンドアルバム『Soundtype 2』を発表し、2026年1月には東京・COTTON CLUBでリリースライブを開催した。

現在はSOUNDTYPEを中心に、演奏・制作活動を展開している。
